- Encourage and support a commitment to Life-Long Learning
To achieve these goals, Lantra works with employers to understand current and future skills needs and to ensure that appropriate training and qualifications are available and accessible.
Lantra Scotland
What we do for our sector
With support from the Scottish Government, Lantra Scotland is increasing the number and diversity of employees in Scotland’s land-based, aquaculture and environmental conservation sector.
Lantra works closely in partnership with the Scottish Government’s Agriculture and Rural Economy Directorate to deliver a programme that assists in the delivery of Scottish Government Policy. The programme aims to increase prosperity and quality of life in rural areas while improving the learning, knowledge and skills bases of businesses, employers and their employees.
Activities are grouped into themes that are considered by employers to be key in improving the learning, knowledge and skills base of businesses in the rural sector:
- Promoting possibilities, opportunities, achievements and successes
- Supporting the development and maintenance of a skilled and diverse workforce
- Contributing to policy and practice to better meet the needs of the sector
Lantra Scotland leads on a new, national approach to skills planning for the sector, working with partners to strengthen regional approaches and increase responsiveness to regional and national skills needs.
At the same time, Lantra works to increase sector specific training for businesses, that increases resilience and flexibility in an uncertain environment, helping people to get the training, qualifications and skills you need to succeed.
More information on this can be found here.
